StateImpact Pennsylvania Editor

Pennsylvania is at the intersection the country's energy transformation.

From the struggles of the coal industry, to rise of natural gas and renewables, and the future of nuclear power, StateImpact Pennsylvania (SIPA) has worked to help listeners better understand how the state's energy and environmental policy impacts their lives. Now, StateImpact Pennsylvania (SIPA) is looking for a skilled, creative and ambitious multi-platform editor to lead our nationally-award winning project.

The ideal candidate to guide SIPA's expansion through a CPB Regional Journalism Center should have experience leading in a digital-first, multimedia team. If you have a passion for telling powerful stories with unique and diverse voices, and can help journalists turn complex topics into compelling radio, TV, and online stories for a wide audience, this is the job for you. We are looking for an editor able to handle a fast-paced environment while also taking on long-range projects as part of a team with journalists based in Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.

You will be responsible for working the team to set a statewide editorial strategy and the four journalists in crafting informative reports that will be distributed through all our platforms: radio, TV, our website, Twitter, Facebook, and more. You'll also be someone who uses social media to reach an active and engaged audience across Pennsylvania. Your team will have a big impact in covering energy and environmental policies developed at the state Capitol. If you want your journalism to have the potential to make a difference, you want to be here. The position is also a part of the national NPR energy and environment collaborative reporting project, with weekly calls with NPR editors and fellow energy reporters from across the country. Your stories will be distributed across the state and air nationally. 

You will help develop a strong video strategy as well as public forums and panel discussions as part of the grant-funded expansion of SIPA.

Newsroom leaders with multimedia, with an emphasis on audio editing, experience are preferred, but print journalists willing to learn audio writing and editing are encouraged to apply.

Transforming Health Reporter

Health care has become one of the key issues facing the country, the state, and central Pennsylvania. There's no shortage of stories to tell. From health care reform in Washington, to the opioid epidemic that has torn through communities, to health system consolidation, this job has never been more critical. To help listeners better understand how health policy impacts their lives, WITF is looking for a skilled, creative and ambitious multi-platform journalist to lead our Transforming Health project. The ideal candidate will have a passion for telling powerful stories with unique and diverse voices, and be able to turn complex topics into compelling radio stories for a wide audience. If you are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while also taking on long-range projects, join our nationally-recognized news department. We are looking for someone who can craft informative reports that will be distributed through all our platforms: radio, our website, Twitter, Facebook, and more. You'll also be someone who uses social media to an active audience in central Pennsylvania. You'll be able to have a big impact in Pennsylvania's state Capitol. State legislators, agency heads, countless state workers, and lobbyists all turn to WITF for news every day. The position is also a part of the NPR/Kaiser Health News collaborative reporting project, with weekly calls with NPR editors and fellow health reporters from across the country. You will have the opportunity to occasionally host WITF's public affairs show and be a regular on-air contributor to the station's fund drives. Associate Director of Major Giving

WITF's Development team seeks a creative, dynamic professional to cultivate a specific portfolio of major and planned gift prospects to secure immediate and long-term gift revenue. The Associate Director of Major Giving will represent our organization to a variety of constituencies, meetings, groups, and individuals for the purpose of introducing WITF and cultivating and stewarding beneficial relationships.  A Bachelor's degree is preferred with two to four years of major giving, planned giving and/or foundation experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Planned giving experience is preferred.  The ideal candidate must be self-motivated, organized, and a flexible multi-tasker who possesses mature judgment, with excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills and is able to work with a wide range of personalities and relationships.  WITF offers competitive benefits that include medical, dental, and vision insurance as well as a generous 401(k) with company match starting on your first day.  WITF is an equal opportunity employer.

RadioPA Account Executive

RadioPA is looking for a self-starter to join our sales team. The ideal candidate will possess a college degree and minimum of 3 years of outside sales experience. Media experience is a plus but not required. Creative orientation and the ability to think strategically is a must. Responsibilities include selling to regional clients across a multi-market platform. Some travel is required. RadioPA is a part of WITF Enterprises, a subsidiary of WITF, Inc. Maintenance Engineer

WITF is seeking top notch Maintenance Engineers to monitor and maintain studio production, origination and transmission equipment such as cameras, videotape equipment, distribution equipment, switchers, and editors on a regular, part-time evening schedule (weekdays & weekends). Perform Operation Technician duties as needed and train employees in operation of production, recording and broadcast equipment. May be assigned to engineer studio productions. Endeavor to maintain high quality control standards. Union position. Associates degree in Electronics, Electronic Technology or Broadcast Engineering experience preferred. Minimum 3 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. EOE.

Anchor/Reporter, Part Time - Radio PA

Radio Pennsylvania is seeking a broadcast professional to cover news stories of state and regional interest for statewide radio network comprised of more than 60 affiliates across Pennsylvania. Shift is early morning weekend hours and occasional weekday fill-ins (hours to vary). Position reports to the News Director and involves writing and anchoring newscasts, covering press conferences, producing story packages, conducting interviews, producing long-form programming and providing news feeds for affiliates. Applicants must have experience in digital audio editing and field reporting, with a minimum of at least 1-2 years of experience in broadcast journalism.

Educational Services Internship

WITF is seeking organized, reliable and creative Early Education or Elementary Education majors who are interested in exploring the impact of non-traditional, community settings on family engagement and learning.

As an intern, you will assist with planning and implementing WITF's Kindergarten transition program, Ready Set Go...Kindergarten, science play events called Ready Set Explore and our in school program Explore in the Classroom. Each program is designed to support family engagement and the development of curious, inspired learners.

Radio Internship

Be part of WITF's award winning Smart Talk team!

Smart Talk is a daily, interactive radio program hosted by Scott LaMar. It features conversations with newsmakers and experts in a variety of fields and explores a wide range of issues and ideas including: the economy, politics, health care, education, culture, and the environment. The show airs live weekdays at 9:00am with a repeat at 7:00 pm. The program is also available on-demand online at witf.org.

Smart Talk is looking for highly motivated and extremely dependable interns to assist with daily production including (but not limited to): researching show topics, booking guests, answering phones during live broadcasts, etc. This internship will allow you to gain valuable industry experience while at the same time building up your resume with an award winning radio program that you helped produce!  Applicants must be available weekdays between 8:00am and 1:00pm. Additional hours may be required and shall be negotiated on a case by case basis.

Marketing Internship

WITF is seeking Communications, Broadcasting, English, Marketing and Public Relations majors who are interested in getting hands-on experience working alongside our experienced social media, content, and marketing professionals. 

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to assist with developing messaging for social media campaigns, creating TV billboards, and researching promotional copy.

HR Internship

This internship will provide opportunities to learn about the many aspects of HR administration including: recruitment, interviewing, new employee orientation, benefits administration, employee engagement, and training & development. You will have the opportunity to shadow the HR Manager during day-to-day activities as well as take part in project based assignments.  As an intern you will gain valuable, real-world experience, while providing the Human Resources team with additional administrative support. Completed coursework in the HR field is preferred.
