    From A to V:  Audiovisual Production (6th-12th Graders)

    Skill Builder:  (5) Explore the world of sound recording.

    During a tour of our Public Media Center, girl scouts learn just how a radio station and television station operate.  They will also participate in an interactive activity at our “Demonstration Station” where the girls can operate a real mixing board during a mock newscast.

    From A to V: Audiovisual Production

    (6th-12th Graders)

    Technology: (1) Find out how a video movie or a still camera works.

    During a tour of our Public Media Center, girl scouts visit and enter an actual TV studio, observing the video equipment within.  They will also participate in an interactive activity at our “Demonstration Station” where the girls can operate a real video movie camera during a mock newscast, exploring its different settings including “Green Screen” technology.

    From A to V: Audiovisual Production

    (6th-12th Graders)

    Technology: (6) Visit a television studio.

    During a tour of our Public Media Center, girl scouts learn just how a television station operates, including video, sound, and editing techniques.  They will view the sound system, the television cameras, and the production and editing suites.  They will also participate in an interactive activity at our “Demonstration Station” where the girls can create their own mock newscast.

    (6th-12th Graders)

    Career Exploration: (1) Look at the masthead of your favorite magazine…

    During a visit to our Public Media Center which includes a panel discussion, girl scouts learn just how a magazine company operates.  They will have the opportunity to interact with writers and editors of the Central PA magazine and ask questions to explore these careers in media.

    (4th & 5th Graders)

    (8) Word of Mouth: Listen to several radio shows…

    During a visit to our Public Media Center, girl scouts will have the opportunity to listen to several of WITF’s public radio programs on 89.5 FM.  These include Morning Edition, Smart Talk, All Things Considered, or Marketplace.
